Our Commitment to Privacy

MediMinder is designed with your privacy as a top priority. Your health data belongs to you, and we've built our app to ensure it stays that way. We believe you should be able to manage your medications without sacrificing your privacy.

Data We Don't Collect

We do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal or health data. This includes:

  • Your name, email, or personal information
  • Medication names, dosages, or schedules
  • Dose history or adherence records
  • Side effects or health symptoms
  • Emergency contacts or caregiver information
  • Location data (pharmacy searches are processed on-device)
  • Barcode scan data

Data Stored on Your Device

All your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure frameworks:

  • Medication names, dosages, and schedules
  • Dose history and adherence records
  • Profile information (names, avatars)
  • Side effect logs and symptom tracking
  • Healthcare contacts and pharmacy information
  • Achievement progress and streak data
  • App preferences and settings
  • Custom themes and display preferences

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync or share data with caregivers.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud sync, your medication data is stored in your private iCloud account. This data is:

  • Encrypted end-to-end by Apple
  • Only accessible by you and your devices
  • Not accessible by MediMinder or any third parties
  • Subject to Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy

You can disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings, and your data will remain only on your local device. Disabling sync does not delete data already synced to iCloud.

Caregiver Sharing

When you invite a caregiver to view your medication schedule:

  • You control what information is shared
  • Data is shared directly through Apple's CloudKit sharing
  • Caregivers can only view data, not modify it
  • You can revoke access at any time
  • MediMinder never sees or processes shared data

Caregiver sharing requires iCloud to be enabled on both devices.

Drug Interaction Database

MediMinder includes a local database of drug interactions:

  • The database is bundled with the app (no internet required)
  • Interaction checks happen entirely on your device
  • We don't know which medications you check
  • Database updates are delivered through app updates

Barcode Scanning

When you scan a medication barcode:

  • Image processing happens entirely on your device
  • Barcode data is matched against a local database
  • No images or scan data are transmitted anywhere
  • We don't know which medications you scan

Location Services

The pharmacy finder feature uses your location to show nearby pharmacies:

  • Location is only accessed when you tap "Find Nearby Pharmacies"
  • Location data is processed on-device using Apple Maps
  • We never receive or store your location
  • You can deny location access and still use all other features

HealthKit Integration

MediMinder can optionally integrate with Apple HealthKit to:

  • Record medication doses to your health records
  • Export adherence data to the Health app

HealthKit data is handled according to Apple's strict privacy guidelines and never leaves your device or iCloud account without your explicit consent. You can enable or disable HealthKit integration at any time.

Notifications

MediMinder uses local notifications to remind you about medication doses. These notifications are:

  • Generated and scheduled entirely on your device
  • Not sent through any external servers
  • Configurable or disableable in Settings
  • Support Focus Filters for different modes (Work, Sleep, etc.)

Analytics & Tracking

We do not use any analytics, tracking tools, or advertising SDKs. We don't know:

  • How you use the app
  • What medications you take
  • Your adherence rates
  • Which features you use
  • How often you open the app
  • Any other usage patterns

Third-Party Services

MediMinder uses only the following Apple services:

  • App Store - For app distribution and in-app purchases
  • iCloud - For optional data sync (if enabled by you)
  • CloudKit - For caregiver sharing (if enabled by you)
  • HealthKit - For optional health data integration
  • MapKit - For pharmacy finder (processed on-device)

We do not integrate with any other third-party services, advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics platforms.

In-App Purchases

Subscription purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. We receive:

  • Confirmation that a purchase was made
  • Subscription status (active/expired)

We do not receive your payment information, Apple ID, name, email, or any personal details.

Data Export

You can export your medication data at any time:

  • PDF reports for sharing with healthcare providers
  • CSV files for personal records
  • Emergency medical card (print or digital)
  • Side effect reports

Exported files are generated on your device and you control how they are shared.

Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

  • Delete individual medications or profiles within the app
  • Clear all side effect logs
  • Remove individual caregivers
  • Use "Clear All Data" in Settings to remove all local data
  • Delete the app to remove all data from your device
  • Disable iCloud sync and delete from iCloud in device settings

Since we don't store any of your data on our servers, there's nothing for us to delete.

Children's Privacy

MediMinder can be used by parents or guardians to track medications for children. The same privacy protections apply - no data is collected or shared. If you're managing medications for a minor, you are responsible for their data.

Security

We employ multiple layers of security:

  • All local data is encrypted using Apple's secure frameworks
  • iCloud data uses Apple's end-to-end encryption
  • No data is transmitted to our servers (we don't have any)
  • The app supports Face ID/Touch ID for additional protection
  • HIPAA-aware design principles (though not a covered entity)

International Users

MediMinder is available worldwide. Since all data is stored locally on your device or in your personal iCloud account:

  • Your data never crosses international borders through our services
  • You maintain full control regardless of your location
  • The same privacy protections apply globally

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by:

  • Posting the new policy on this page
  • Updating the "Last updated" date
  • Showing an in-app notice for major changes

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Your Rights

Because your data stays on your devices, you automatically have:

  • Right to Access - Your data is always accessible in the app
  • Right to Export - Export your data anytime as PDF or CSV
  • Right to Delete - Delete any or all data at any time
  • Right to Portability - Take your data wherever you want
